What Is Included in the Hair and Fur VDM Pack
You receive 25 ZBrush VDM brushes for directional three-dimensional strand forms and 25 PSD alpha maps at 2K resolution. Use VDM brushes for raised clumps and the alphas for flatter breakup and supporting surface detail.
VDM Brushes vs Fur Alpha Maps
VDM brushes encode directional 3D form and are best for visible strands, tufts and clumps in ZBrush. Standard alphas control grayscale height and are better for flatter or repeatable surface detail. For broad seamless coverage, choose the 15 Tileable Fur Alphas. For native Blender and ZBrush presets, see the 200+ Fur Sculpting Brushes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the pack?
The pack contains 25 ZBrush VDM brushes and 25 PSD alpha maps at 2K resolution.
What is a VDM brush?
A Vector Displacement Mesh brush stores directional three-dimensional form, allowing it to create raised strands and clumps rather than only grayscale height.
Are the VDM brushes for Blender?
The VDM brush presets are intended for ZBrush. The included alpha maps may be used separately in compatible applications.
When should I use tileable fur alphas instead?
Use tileable alphas for broad repeating coverage; use VDM brushes for distinct raised strands and tufts.
